Look Below For The Location Map Or Click Here To Be Taken To Google Maps For Step By Step Directions. You can also follow our directions below. These Directions begin from Victoria but you will be following the same Trans-Canada HWY/BC-1 N all the way up. We've put city names in capitals with approximate driving times based on the speed limits and without accounting for any traffic issues. The entire highway will have signs for you to follow as well. FROM VICTORIA take the Douglas St / Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N for approx. 1.5 hours all the way to NANAIMO. Continue on the highway through NANAIMO passing by PARKSVILLE after approx. 20 minutes, then passing COURTENAY after approx. 1 hour (from Nanaimo) and then into CAMPBELL RIVER after approx. 1.5 hours (from Nanaimo). The speed limit drops from 120km to 50km so you will know you've hit CAMPBELL RIVER. |
There are two gas stations that you will see while passing though CAMPBELL RIVER on the highway. The first is an Esso Station and the second, one street past that, is a Chevron. The Esso has restrooms, a McDonalds and a shop for snacks and drinks etc., plus this is a good place to refill your tank. If you turn right, heading into Campbell River you will find a Petro Canada and just beyond that there is a Walmart and some other restaurants and facilities should you need them. Head back on the highway continuing Northbound.
PLEASE NOTE THAT SHORTLY AFTER CAMPBELL RIVER, UNTIL YOU GET UP TOWARDS THE LODGE AREA, THERE WILL BE NO CELL OR INTERNET RECEPTION AS THIS IS ALMOST ENTIRELY A SIGNAL FREE ZONE.
Follow the highway from CAMPBELL RIVER for an hour and fifteen minutes till you hit WOSS. You will pass by a small town called SAYWARD before hitting WOSS. From WOSS its another 45 minutes until you will see a turn off from the highway just past mile marker 355. If you miss the turn off you will head into Port McNeill after another 20 minutes or so and will need to turn around. Once you make the turn you will be heading in the direction of Telegraph Cove. As you drive down this highway you will see and then pass a stack of signs on the left side of the road for Alder Bay, Whale Watching and a Kayak Beach Launch, Not long after that you will pass a green highway sign on the right side for Beaver & Telegraph Cove. It is shortly after this sign, on the left side of the road that you will see the Hidden Cover Lodge's white wooden sign and the gravel road to turn onto. There is no way to get lost on the gravel road to Hidden Cove Lodge as this road leads only to the lodge, but drive slowly and carefully so as not to hit any potential potholes or skid off the road.
